Acquisition news produced a healthy return for a biopharma penny stock Thursday. Here’s some small stocks making big moves on Thursday, June 30, 2016 (as of 4 pm EST):
Biopharma penny stock Transition Therapeutics Inc. (TSE:TTH) shot up 111% to $1.88 on Thursday after announcing that it has agreed to be acquired by OPKO Health, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPK) in an all-stock transaction valued at about US$60 million.
As well, shares of Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSXV:ZMS) (OTCPK:ZMSPF) (CVE:ZMS) rose 7% to $0.29 as the developer of photonics technologies said it has received a second order for its patented Lutetium Fine Silicate scintillation crystals from the same major OEM developing radiation monitoring and detection devices.
Copper One Inc. (CVE:CUO), meanwhile, reported that it has received written notification from the Quebec Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources that effective June 28, 2016, all claims under suspension on its Rivière Doré project have been lifted. Copper One stock popped 733% to $0.25 following the announcement.
In addition, shares of Metanor Resources Inc. (CVE:MTO) climbed 14% to $0.08 as the gold explorer provided results from its underground exploration drilling program at the Bachelor Mine in Quebec, which included 10.4 g/t gold over 8.8 metres.
Finally, Jaguar Mining Inc. (CVE:JAG) shares gained 11% to $0.50 after the gold project developer announced that it has received conditional approval to graduate from the TSX Venture Exchange to the TSX.
